— Want to be an entrepreneur but have no idea?
— Have an idea and want to build a startup?
— Have a startup and want to perfect your pitch?
— Applying to the McGill Dobson Cup 2018?
If you answered yes to any of the above, the McGill Startup Boot Camp is for you!
The 8-hour Startup Boot Camp will teach you the first steps to launch your venture! Developers, designers and business people will all come together to gain insight on building both for-profit and social enterprise startups.
Part 1: A guest speaker from the Montreal Startup Community will share his experience and give you tips on the do’s and don’ts of entrepreneurship. This will be complemented with an overview of the McGill Dobson Cup 2018 guidelines for those applying. Participants with no idea will spend the morning in the Starting Block (Bronfman 151) to brainstorm and learn about ways to start a new venture. Participants with an idea will have the opportunity to pitch and get feedback in front of mentors. Pitch format is 3 minute pitch followed by 5 minute feedback (Bronfman 001, 002, 011, 045 & 046).
Part 2: For the second part of the day, several workshops will be offered to all participants to help them further their enterprise. Mentors will come to spend time with the different teams and help them build their business canvases and slide deck. The day will end with final 3 minute pitches from the top teams!
Lunch and refreshments will be served throughout the day.
